Red blood cells
Red blood cells are round blood cells with a dimple in the centre. They do not have nuclei and are packed with haemoglobin (the red pigment that gives blood its colour). Their job is to carry oxygen from the lungs to body tissues and carbon dioxide from the tissues to the lungs. They are also called erythrocytes.
