Fertilisation
Fertilisation happens when the genetic material carried by sperm and egg combine or fuse together to create a single cell with a full set of 46 chromosomes. The cell made can then divide and grow to become two cells and then four, then eight, then… This is how one cell becomes and embryo, then a foetus and eventually a baby.
