Day 33: Trial Check ups

Picture of stethoscope on heartAs the trial progresses, Tim comes to the test site for regular checks by the Research Nurse. The results of the checks are passed on to the Data Manager. The Principal Investigator is consulted if any abnormal test results appear.

Pharmacokineticists also analyse Tim’s blood and urine samples regularly to see how his body processes the medicine.

Tim has no abnormal results, however—in fact, his asthma seems to be improving, he feels better and is experiencing no side effects. But since the trial is double blind, neither he nor the Research Nurse who treats him know whether he is receiving the experimental treatment.
