Day 8: Tim joins the trial

Tim decides to volunteer for the trial. The Research Nurse takes blood and urine samples to make sure that Tim is in good health. The nurse also assesses Tim’s level of asthma and general respiratory health, and gives him a questionnaire to complete about his health and lifestyle.

The nurse gives the patient’s details to a Data Manager, who makes sure that the patients are matched and randomised before they are put into experimental and control groups. The Research Nurse , Data Manager and Quality Assurance Manager all need to ensure that patients are given their medication according to protocol.
