Week 17: Going to see the counsellor
Lindsay is upset that it is so unlikely that she will ever conceive naturally. After discussing the option of adoption, both Matt and Lindsay decide they would like to try for a baby using IVF treatment. However, they are concerned about the fact that it could potentially be a long and emotionally difficult process. They are also unsure about whether to tell their friends and family about their decision if they do decide to receive IVF treatment. Matt and Lindsay decide that it would be a good idea to make an appointment with the counsellor to discuss these issues.
When they have their appointment with the counsellor she talks to them about the process of IVF and the emotional difficulties they may go through. They also discuss the problems that Matt and Lindsay have had conceiving and how this has affected their relationship. The counsellor suggests that Matt and Lindsay might like to join a support group where they can talk to other couples who are going through a similar experience.
