A dot

Nucleus closed blueYou grew from a single cell to a baby the size of a football in just 9 months. This first dot-like cell split into two cells. These two cells then split into four cells. They then split into eight cells, which then split into 16 cells, 32, 64, 128 cells … again and again and again.

Five days after the egg and sperm fused you were a ball of about 100 cells. This ball began to change shape. The cells took on particular jobs and you began to turn into a tiny embryo.
After one month you were made of thousands of cells. You were the size of a grain of rice. You had a spinal column and your tiny heart started to beat. At six weeks you were the size of a grape, had a nose, eyes, mouth and inner ears.
