Clinical Embryologist

Clinical Embryologists (also known as Clinical Scientists in Embryology) help people who are infertile by carrying out much of the laboratory work involved in fertility treatments such as IVF.

Clinical embryologists may help diagnose why people are having problems conceiving. They also have a very important role in fertility treatments such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF). They carry out procedures such as egg collection, checking the fertilisation of the eggs and embryo implanting. These procedures are highly skilled, for example egg and sperm manipulation in techniques such as ICSI, where a sperm is injected into an egg to ensure fertilisation.
