Nurse Co-ordinator
Nurse co-ordinators are nurses who are specialised in a particular condition or area of treatment, for example fertility. They co-ordinate a patient’s visit to a hospital or clinic.
Patients often have to visit a hospital or clinic several times during the course of their treatment, and they will usually see the same nurse co-ordinator each time. This provides the patient with a familiar face and point of contact at the hospital or clinic.
Nurse co-ordinators are a source of support for patients. They are on-hand to answer any questions the patient may have and to deal with any problems during patients’ appointments. They will also be involved directly in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Many nurse co-ordinators working in fertility centres are qualified to perform ultrasound scans on patients.
