
Autophagy proteins in skin cancer 1

This is a section of cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma (a type of skin cancer) that is stained for LC3 and p62, two important proteins that drive the process of autophagy. Autophagy is an important process that allows cells to survive when stressed or starved so looking at these proteins can help us understand whether cancer cells use autophagy to grow and survive in the skin.
