Neuronal Fireworks can Cure Disease!

Rachel Wilson

This image shows a tiny cluster of human neurons, around 1mm across, grown in the laboratory. The bright blue centre marks a group of neuronal cell bodies, with yellow neurites extending outward that mimic the behaviour of neurons in the brain. These neurons were made from human stem cells grown in a dish. By studying neurons formed this way, scientists can explore how neurons develop, connect, and malfunction in disease, helping to improve future treatments.
