The Mini Gut – Mouse Colon Organoid
Ashley Campbell
This is a mini gut model, called an organoid, grown from a mouse colon. This organoid is a 3D ball of cells that grows from a master group of cells called stem cells. Stem cells allow the organoid to grow into a mini version of the mouse colon being studied, allowing us to observe how specific changes in our genes can lead to colon cancer.
Colour markers: Blue – Nuclei of cells, Cyan – Junctions where cells stick together, Green – The largest cells of the colon.
