Journey through the Senses

Join us on a journey to understand our senses.  We’re exploring the science behind how we experience the world around us.  This hands-on workshop introduces participants to Sight, Sound, Smell, Taste & Touch, how they work in our bodies and how they have been adapted in other animals.

Recommended for:

  • Ages – 5 to 8 Year Old’s
  • Key Stage – KS1
  • School Group – Reception, Year 1, Year 2

Key Learning Points:

  • Sight: do animals see things like we do?
  • Smell: investigate to discover the mystery smells
  • Sound: how do we make sounds?
  • Taste: investigate to discover the mystery flavours
  • Touch: how can you describe how something feels?

This show contains the following materials and stimuli. 

  • Use of instruments can be loud (ear defenders available upon request)
  • Ice cream sauces used for tasting (ingredients list available upon request)
  • Visitors will be asked to touch various textures without seeing them
  • Some activities could be difficult for anyone visually impaired
  • Use of essential oils can create strong smells
